underside of one bisque hand, body has a few seam openings, original

holes near waist) with bisque lower arms, finger tips are chipped on the
doll's right hand, antique (original?) pale blue dress with undergarments,
dress is melting in spots, no shoes or socks, beautiful doll $795
15 ½” German Bisque Mystery Doll

15 ½” German Bisque Mystery Doll, circa 1880’s, brown paperweight eyes, feathered brows, pierced ears, beautiful open/closed mouth, some specks on tip of nose, really unusual and beautiful face, replaced brown mohair wig, original ball-jointed composition body with straight wrists, some finish missing off of top of right arm, seam splits on one forearm and on torso of body have been professionally restored, retaining original undergarments and original (though very frail) dress and red coat, shoes and socks are newer replacements, this doll was a gift given to 1926 to Ruth Sheeler Moncrief, daughter of Charles Sheeler, Charles owned a store on North Pearl Street in Bridgeton, NJ and one of his customers took a fancy to little Ruth & gave her this “hand-me-down” doll, as the story goes, the doll originally came with a trunk of clothes however the frail dress, red coat, and underclothes are all that survived, this doll was acquired from Ruth’s daughter Georgella Anderson, also of NJ, a nice estate doll $2,450
