5 ½” All-Original English Poured Little Bo Peep Wax Immobile with Original Box and Wardrobe, circa 1820, made of early brown bee’s wax, pupil-less set glass eyes, solid dome head which has incised marks and painting to indicate hair, arms and legs do not move, as all are molded in one piece with the torso and head. Left hand is believed to have held a traditional shepherd’s staff, which (together with the original miniature papier mache lamb) would seem to indicate that this doll was one of the first Little Bo Peep dolls ever created, as the Little Bo Peep children’s nursery rhyme was first popularized between 1820-1820. Comes in original wallpaper covered oval box with extensive original 1820’s wardrobe including 6 bonnets, 5 patterned dresses (one with separate pocket as was the style at that time), 5 white dresses (could also be full slips) with empire waits, three half slips, 2 shirts with separate (unattached) sleeves (as also was the style), 2 capes, and an early papier mache sheep featuring original paint, a very rare find $3,950.
